The bank will manage RLUSD stablecoin reserves and offer custody services for digital holdings as a federally chartered trust, the company said on Oct. 26. Ripple received conditional OCC approval in December 2025.

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has granted Ripple final approval to operate a national trust bank that will hold RLUSD stablecoin reserves and provide digital asset custody under federal oversight, the company said on Monday.

Ripple National Trust Bank will manage RLUSD reserves, act as collateral trustee for token holders and offer fiduciary custody of digital assets, the company said. RLUSD itself will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York entity regulated by the state's Department of Financial Services; the OCC charter covers reserves and custody, not issuance.

Ripple chief executive Brad Garlinghouse wrote: “We've always said crypto and banks work better together: this is what that looks like. Real innovation, real accountability, federal oversight.”

Ripple filed for the national charter in July 2025, received conditional OCC approval on Dec. 12, 2025, and won final approval on Oct. 26, 2026. RLUSD's market value stood at $2.5 billion at the time of the announcement, according to Ripple.

The company did not disclose when the trust bank will begin operating or the specific terms of its federal oversight.

Circle became the first stablecoin issuer to receive a national trust bank charter from the OCC, in July 2026.
